Run, boulder, run!!!!

"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough"

I don't know about you, but when I have nothing to do I love to watch a good film. Who doesn't? There are so many good films out there to enjoy but the classics are always the best.

One of my favourite all time classics, and the first I can remember watching all the way through, is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.  Someone reminded me of this great film today. Take a bit of action, mixed with situations that make you think "That would never happen"and you have the recipe for a great cinematic experience! That's exactly what you get with Indiana Jones.

I remember watching the film time and time again, loving the surprise, the action, the amazing talents that Indie has as he fights his way through the temple. What was even better was seeing the Indiana Jones show live during a family holiday to Florida. I will never forget the moment in the show when Indie has to make an escape from a runaway boulder. If you don't know what I'm talking about watch this clip;

Wow! Can you imagine running from a boulder that big? Ok, so there never really was any danger, but imagine if there was. I'm pretty sure that like me, you would run as fast as your legs could take you. All that coming towards you and no where to go. You'd have to run pretty fast to keep up with it.

You might not think that could happen in real life or that this is situation you will never actually experience, but actually, it does happen! Ok, so the likelihood of you having to run down the street from a boulder that is perfectly rounded is probably highly unlikely but we all go through times where we feel like we're running from a boulder.

Have you ever come up with an idea that started really small then became something huge, or maybe involved in a situation that started relatively simple but somehow got bigger and bigger and now is a boulder you are trying to run from? Ahhhh...now the boulder situation doesn't seem so far fetched.

So often in life we can start things or find ourselves in situations where we're trying to keep up with the boulder before it catches us. Maybe its a family situation, a situation in work or something that is going on in your life. All to soon what starts as something small becomes a boulder that all to soon is on the heels of your feet!

And what do we do? More often than not we give up! It's too stressful. It's too hard. I can't keep up. We simply stop, we give in. And what happens when we stop? We get flattened by the boulder!

Imagine if Indiana had stopped.  Im pretty sure that that would have been the end of his story. What an end to a film. But he doesn't stop. Even when the pressure is on and it seems to be an impossible situation, Indiana Jones keeps going. The result...Success! He gets away. His determination and hard work keeping up lands him with the Gold!

So I end with this thought.

Often in life we go through times, in work, at home, with family, where we seem to be chased by a boulder. Something that seems bigger than us, something we can't escape from. It's seems impossible and what do we do? Give up! Stop! Let the pressure take over us and all to soon, we're flattened.

But nothing is impossible, and nothing in this life is bigger than you!

Since human's have been on the earth we have always had determination. Determination to be better, bigger, stronger than before. Determination to do new things and achieve the impossible. Travelling in the sky to the other side of the world? Impossible! Getting to the moon? Impossible! At one point these were all boulders, impossible, but they were beaten!

Truth is if you have determination in your life and your eye on the end prize, then nothing can ever flatten you. No "boulder" is so big that it't can't be escaped. I guess it's all about what you're willing to do to find your way out. Eventually, you will find the exit to the cave!

So the next time something comes along that puts the pressure on, the next time you find yourself running from a boulder, the next time you're in a situation that's hot on your heels remember, if you stop in the middle of a problem and give up you'll definitely be flattened. But if you run with determination, knowing that you are bigger than any situation, keeping your eye on the prize, then very soon you will escape the boulder and reach the gold!

A man once said the sky is the limit...but he was wrong! Nothing is impossible.
